Yesterday there was a meeting in Florence of a group of activists purple. An attempt to structure a "network" but was hampered by problems typical of citizen participation that is hard to compact around a concrete project. We correct and useful to give space to all the critics (we might say "uncomfortable") and therefore we report here the self-critical report (and therefore constructive) of any of the participants, an activist of Pisa, which shows all the limitations of a many of these experiences in motion and that can help to qualify the debate.

I just got back from Florence, where we lived together in the third, and for me the last meeting of the network of local groups.
I still remember the excitement of the first of our meetings and events. An enthusiasm that has now turned into a bureaucratic formalism . Instead of passion, and spontaneity of young smiles, our classrooms are now filled with sophistry, parades and lists of numbers (most ever implemented) ideas. Not more than an informal meeting between friends, people who carry out battles common in the area, but a true meeting of distractions and inconclusive, so large in the arguments as inconsistent.
The enclosed, self-praise free, the long string of "could do" and proposals for the inevitable uprising against the "evil government", I have pointed out that we were born demanding the resignation of Berlusconi Since then, a non-local level, we simply imploded on ourselves. We quibble about the tools, we use evil, made a "network" virtual methodically designed a beautiful system of bureaucratic organization and centralization of energy on the Internet. Now quibble of plans, maybe .. few years we will be able to put into practice at least half.
a hundred people from all over Italy. Local groups that disappear or disintegrate. Convention by the color purple with a lot of parties of all kinds, up to and including the most inconclusive. A "Purple People" divided, indecipherable and often confused about their identity, thanks to the publication of indecent articles, even on "the daily." Despite all this, today we were talking about projects of "national" to be pursued as a "network". Even if a "national" does not exist or at least would not have existed. What to say: "there are none so deaf as those who do not want to hear."
a movement from below, horizontal, which no longer exists in its original intentions. A movement that is dying, even at the actual level. Today's meeting opened to private messages is symptomatic of what we are becoming self-referential and closed to innovation and the involvement of outsiders, that can give us a more objective point of view. Nothing comes more from the bottom, because there are contacts who are invited to these meetings and many others who do not know.
The virtual network centralizes all, taking away freedom to individual local groups. Regardless from what actually occurs in the territory, now it is considered active depending on the number of posts entered on the facebook page, or depending on the amount of comments. If you're not on the internet does not exist and therefore you are not online. From the virtual network we have never gone to think of a real network. We are indeed fossilized on establishing rules and votes of the directors of a network unreal, on creating a page open to all and a secret (which does not make us more horizontal) and protect (and therefore close them and turn in on ourselves) from potential exploitation.
My idea of \u200b\u200bnetwork was different. He had to start from the bottom, local groups and not from an elitist pseudo-national group. The projects would be formed by the meeting of each group with the reality of the territory, with the only constraint of ethical charter. All the activities carried out in every place of Italy were the projects of the network, which we shared only when they are implemented. No meeting closed or "private." No centralization of ideas in a classroom and a few scattered purple citizens, much less on facebook. More informal meetings, less bureaucratic, more enthusiasm and passion. More spontaneity.
Although I have enjoyed re-meet some friends, the day was useless until dinner time. Especially since the most beautiful, to confront and meet, know and share in person, was to say the least inhibited and suppressed by the excessive formalism and rationalization of operations. Tomorrow is another day, the chatter will go to the wind. Only those who will be active as ever in the area, and this will remain constant. Friends, traveling companions, which can always be counted on when needed to face the facts.
I'll be there. As always. Even if the flag flown more purple.
